Commercial auto insurance for businesses

Commercial auto insurance covers vehicles used for the business — crew trucks, vans, dump trucks, and similar units — for liability to others and, when purchased, physical damage to the vehicle. A personal auto policy is written for personal use; it typically excludes or sharply limits business use. If the truck is how the work moves, this is the form.

WHAT A COMMERCIAL AUTO POLICY CAN INCLUDE

What a commercial auto policy can include

Kavana Insurance Inc. helps California and Texas businesses place commercial auto next to the rest of the program.

    01

    Liability

Bodily injury and property damage you cause to others while a covered business vehicle is in use. States set minimums; contracts often ask for more.

    02

    Collision and comprehensive

Collision for damage from a crash. Comprehensive for covered non-collision losses such as theft, fire, or vandalism. Deductibles apply.

    03

    Uninsured / underinsured motorists

Helps when the at-fault driver has no insurance or not enough. Terms follow the state and the form.

    04

    Medical, rental, towing

Medical payments, rental reimbursement while a covered vehicle is down, and towing/labor are common options — not automatic on every policy.

    WHAT IT IS

    Who usually needs it

Contractors and trades with crew trucks and trailers. Cleaning and service crews moving between jobs. Retail, restaurant, and office operations that deliver, cater, or run errands in a company vehicle.

Personal auto is a different product. Hired and non-owned auto — employees running errands in personal cars — is a gap a personal policy does not fill. Ask for it on the commercial side when it applies.

Share vehicle list, drivers, radius, and how the units are used. Certificates are issued after a policy is bound.
