    WHAT IT COVERS

The four lines that clear a jobsite

Most contractor accounts are a package, not a policy. Which pieces you need depends on payroll, vehicles, and what your contracts require.

    01

    General liability

Third-party claims on the site. Not your own injuries, and not the cost to redo faulty work.

    02

    Workers’ compensation

Employee injuries, rated on payroll and class code. Required in California with narrow exceptions.

    03

    Commercial auto

Trucks and vans, plus hired and non-owned exposure for employee vehicles used on the job.

    04

    Additional insured status

The endorsement your GC’s contract actually names — checked against the contract, not a template.

    WHAT IT IS

Carry it in your own name

Small construction firms should carry contractors insurance in their own name rather than relying on a GC’s or client’s policy. A wrap or an OCIP may cover the site; it does not cover your business off the site, your vehicles, or your tools.

Read the insurance exhibit before you sign it. Limits, additional insured wording, waiver of subrogation, and primary-and-non-contributory language decide whether your certificate gets accepted.

Same-day certificates after a policy is bound. Not before — no agency can issue a certificate for coverage that does not exist yet.

WHAT THE FORM DOES AND DOES NOT REACH
    USUALLY COVERED
+ Third-party bodily injury on site
+ Crew injury under workers’ comp
+ Trucks, trailers, and hired units
+ Tools and equipment in transit
    NOT ON THIS FORM
    Redoing your own defective work
    Design-build errors, without pro liability
The project structure itself — that is builders risk
Subcontractors with no coverage of their own

GENERAL GUIDANCE ONLY. THE POLICY FORM, ENDORSEMENTS, AND CARRIER DECIDE WHAT IS COVERED ON YOUR ACCOUNT.

    HOW WE WORK

    Three steps, no instant-bind theater

    01

    Tell us the job

Operations, payroll, vehicles, contracts, or project value — whatever applies.

    02

    Review the structure

Limits, deductibles, exclusions, and what sits outside the policy.

    03

    Bind and issue

Choose coverage. Get policy documents and COIs once the carrier binds.
