Professional services insurance

Consultancies, agencies, accounting and bookkeeping firms, financial and real estate professionals, and technology companies. The exposure is advice and deliverables, not a jobsite — so the program is built around professional liability first and the office second.

WHAT A PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM USUALLY HOLDS

What a professional program usually holds

Kavana Insurance Inc. compares options from multiple carriers for California and Texas professional firms. We are an independent agency, not a carrier.

    01

    Errors & omissions

The core line. Claims that your advice, work product, or an omission cost a client money, plus legal defense for covered claims. Usually written claims-made.

    02

    General liability

Third-party injury and property damage — a client hurt in your office, damage to a space you visit. Landlords and clients ask to see it on a certificate.

    03

    Business owners policy

GL packaged with property for the office itself: tenant improvements, furniture, laptops, and business income after a covered loss.

    04

    Cyber and privacy

Client data, wire fraud, and business email compromise sit on a cyber form, not on E&O or property. Ask for it as its own line if you hold client records.

    WHAT IT IS

Contracts drive most of these placements

For professional firms the requirement usually arrives in a client MSA or a statement of work: a limit, a retroactive date, additional insured status, and sometimes a waiver of subrogation. Send us the insurance exhibit before you sign — the wording decides whether your certificate gets accepted.

If you employ staff, workers’ compensation applies in California and is often required by contract in Texas even though the statute makes it elective. Independent contractor classification is worth a conversation before renewal, not after a claim.

A claims-made policy protects the work you have already done only while the coverage stays continuous. Lapses are the most expensive thing a professional firm does to itself.

    HOW WE WORK

    Three steps, no instant-bind theater

    01

    Tell us the job

Operations, payroll, vehicles, contracts, or project value — whatever applies.

    02

    Review the structure

Limits, deductibles, exclusions, and what sits outside the policy.

    03

    Bind and issue

Choose coverage. Get policy documents and COIs once the carrier binds.
